These photos were taken at the height of the New York City blizzard around 3PM, Feb 10 2010. During the blinding snowstorm hundreds of families fought cabin fever to take in the beauty of the storm or just sled on the Riverside Park moguls at 103rd Street and Riverside Drive. These stairs have been used in many movies, such as the 1979 film, “The Warriors.” Over the past 20 years Riverside Park has been transformed into the gem of the Upper West Side.

After being housebound all day, these kids built a snowman, complete with a scarf tie, at the corner of Riverside Drive and 104rd Street. If you observe carefully, these New York City artists were completing the snowman’s arms.

This photo was taken just north of the entrance to Riverside Park facing 104th street wall. It shows a tranquil, peaceful moment during the height of the storm’s fury.
